Three virtuosic instrumentalists come together as Komaga Trio, blending jazz, world music, and free improvisation into a singular cross-cultural sound. Their performances fuse harp, fretless bass, and global percussion into a dynamic musical experience unlike any other.
Motoshi Kosako, a Japanese-born harpist and composer, began his career as a jazz guitarist in Tokyo before moving to the U.S. and pioneering a unique improvisational approach to the harp. A former principal harpist of the Stockton Symphony, Kosako has released numerous jazz and classical albums and performs internationally at festivals and conferences worldwide. His innovative style has earned accolades from Sacramento Magazine and Harp Column, drawing comparisons to Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea.
Michael Manring, widely regarded as one of the world’s leading solo bassists, has spent more than three decades expanding the possibilities of the fretless bass. A student of legendary bassist Jaco Pastorius, Manring is known for his groundbreaking techniques, alternative tunings, and expressive performances. He has recorded extensively, toured globally, earned Grammy nominations, and collaborated with artists ranging from Suzanne Ciani to Michael Hedges and Thomas Dolby.
Chris Garcia, a percussionist and composer from East Los Angeles, has performed more than 1,200 concerts in 28 countries across five continents. A master of diverse rhythmic traditions—including Indian tabla, Western drumset, and indigenous instruments of Mexico and Mesoamerica—Garcia is an acclaimed educator and innovator. His compositions and performances bridge cultures and traditions, reflecting a deep exploration of rhythm and sound.
