Does anyone else hear the sound of spring calling? If we throw it back to the good ole days - high school, obviously - spring was preceded by one of the most iconic nights in every average American’s life, PROM. On April 18th, Channel Frequencies is bringing that feeling of sweet nostalgia to SOhO with live musical performances from bands across California:
Trestles, a beach rock project from Santa Cruz, made a name for themselves in the post-pandemic college rock scene, balancing the laid-back aesthetic of their hometown with a sharp take on West Coast garage rock. Their sound walks the line between '60s musicianship and modern indie-pop sensibilities, creating something that feels both self-aware and effortlessly cool. In 2024, Trestles was named Santa Cruz’s “Band of The Year” for their explosive live shows, solidifying them as one to watch.
Sluttony, an all-femme, four-piece rock band from Santa Cruz. built a cult following by reigniting the local college music scene with raw energy and undeniable on-stage chemistry. Their electric performances made them a staple of the Santa Cruz house show circuit before selling out venues like Urbani’s Cellar and The Catalyst Atrium. The band has recently relocated to Los Angeles, where they’re working on their debut LP set to release in the winter of this year.
Finally, The Framers are our hometown heroes of this lineup. They fuse early 2000s garage rock, riot grrrl energy, and sharp storytelling into something punchy and nostalgic. They’ve played major festivals like Shabang and Fields of Funk, sharing stages with acts like Peach Pit and STRFKR, and their latest album, I’m Feeling Fine, has been making waves on alt-rock radio.
