Pianist Antonio Artese brings his West Coast Trio to SOhO with New Horizons, a
program exploring the expressive range of the piano trio tradition. The evening
features original compositions, including the evocative Bartokiana Suite, alongside
imaginative takes on American Songbook standards.
Artese is joined by bassist Luca Alemanno, whose lyrical virtuosity anchors the
ensemble, and drummer Mark Ferber, a master of color and nuance heard on
numerous ECM recordings.
Balancing written material and improvisation, the trio moves fluidly between
chamber-like textures and open jazz interplay—music that honors tradition while
quietly pushing toward new musical horizons.
